God's House

And Another Thing!

Isaiah 2:2-5

In days to come the mountain of the Lord’s house shall be established as the highest of the mountains and shall be raised above the hills; all the nations shall stream to it. Many peoples shall come and say, “Come, let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the house of the God of Jacob, that he may teach us his ways and that we may walk in his paths.” For out of Zion shall go forth instruction and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem. He shall judge between the nations and shall arbitrate for many peoples; they shall beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks; nation shall not lift up sword against nation; neither shall they learn war anymore. O house of Jacob, come, let us walk in the light of the Lord!

In the days to come, all people will come to God’s house. All people will want to hear the teachings of God and to follow them. Why? Because God’s word will bring peace and safety.

Lord, bring that day. Bring that day when we are so secure that we turn our weapons into gardening tools. Bring that day when the headlines don’t tally how many children have died at school this year. Bring that day when war is gone from the whole Earth. Come, Prince of Peace.

When the world knows that God has done this, we won’t have to invite people to church. They will come all on their own. They will stream to thank the God who has brought peace. They will stand in wonder. We will stand in wonder.

Until that day, Lord, make us peacemakers. Help Zion to be a place of safety and peace. Help us to bring security to the people around us. Let our lives be so different, let our faith be so visible, that people want to know who you are.

O house of Jacob, come, let us walk in the light of the Lord!
